John C. Cassidy



Mr. Cassidy is one of the founding partners of Sudekum, Cassidy & Shulruff, Chtd. and is the firm's Managing Partner. Prior to founding the firm, he was an associate at a major Chicago law firm from 1986 through 1993.

Mr. Cassidy concentrates his practice in the area of first-party insurance defense with a specialty in property and insurance coverage analysis. He practices third-party liability defense work with a concentration in construction defects, fires and explosions and complex litigation. He also consuls clients on extra-contractual and bad faith litigation.

He represents insurance companies, self-insured businesses, and commercial clients. He has tried numerous cases to verdict throughout northeast Illinois. Additionally, he is actively involved in alternative dispute resolution methods, including mediation and arbitration. Since 2000, he has resolved more than 300 cases through Alternative Dispute Resolution.


Mr. Cassidy is a member of the American Bar Association Tort and Insurance Law Section and the Illinois and DuPage County Bar Associations.


Mr. Cassidy graduated from DePauw University with a B.A. in Political Science in 1982. He received his J.D. from Loyola University of Chicago, School of Law in 1986.
